Not Just Lunch, Nov. 1

It’s not just food and games until it is. You are invited for another not just lunch on Nov. 1 from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Chapel. For this edition, we are eating pizza and partaking in a tournament o’ board games, which will include -- but not be limited to -- Cranium and Scrabble. Cost is $5.

Be-a-Difference Day 2009

For our premiere Be-a-Difference day, we are going to serve (feed!) 21 service organizations from Missouri State University and Drury. They serve, so we'll serve them. In order to pull this off, we are going to have to think big, plan big and, um, act big. Be-a-Difference 2009 is two weeks from Friday. What do you think?

Be-a-Difference Day, Nov. 6

If you know an organization or person or family who could use a bit of TLC or assistance or extra hands on Nov. 6, we want to know. Please reply with a short description of the need, as well as contact information. On Nov. 6, we're taking a tour of the city and helping out where we can.

Corn Maize, Oct. 16

Mmmmm ... Autumn is in the air. Meet at Ridgecrest at 6 p.m. We'll shuttle on out to Verona for a haunted maze, bonfire, s'mores and hot dogs. Cost is $5. Please reserve your spot by Oct. 14.

Fresh Start Sunday, Sept. 27

Who couldn't use a fresh start? If you aren't already in a Bible study group, join us in Oz. this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. You're a young adult; we're young adults. It's a match.

Volunteer Opportunities, Aug. 23

Convoy of Hope – Make a Difference Day – October 24
Our Bev Bates is coordinating the grocery area at Reed Middle School and she needs 25helpers to sack, distribute and carry out (for the elderly) on Saturday, Oct. 24. Volunteer training/meal is at Second Baptist on August 31st at 6:00 p.m. To sign up, please see the “Serving Opportunities” section of the bulletin.

Jeffries Adopt a Teacher: Teacher’s appreciation luncheon happens on Friday, Aug 21. Teachers and other Jeffries’ staff will sign-up if they want a Small Group or individual to adopt them for the school year. You will find an informational flier and response card in your record tray this week. I hope your Small Group will participate. This means so much to these teachers, principal, and other staff at the school.

A lady in our church is anticipating making several trips a year within the state. Her car is not reliable enough for those trips. If you know someone with a road worthy car that gets good gas mileage and the owner would be interested in a trade or would donate the car, please let me know.
